SI Abdus Sattar, 32, and his wife 'Shampa', 28, were taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a 'critical condition' Saturday evening, the officer-in-charge of Rupnagar Police Station, Shahid Alam, told bdnews24.com.
The duty doctor, Habibul Hasan, pronounced them dead around 8:40pm.
"We suspect he shot his wife with his service pistol and them himself," OC Shahid said.
The incident took place at their flat in the house no. 32 at Road. 22 of Rupnagar residential area around 6pm, police said.
Sattar married Shampa, a cousin of his first wife, around a year ago. He has two children with his first wife.
The OC said Sattar might have done this out of frustrations originated from family disputes.
His first wife lives separately with their children.
Badda Police Station OC MA Jalil said Sattar had worked at Darussalam, Shah Ali and Pallabi police stations.
He joined the Badda Police Station last month with promotion from assistant sub-inspector.
