Fatal electrocution claims two lives during lamppost installation in Kurigram

Five people come into contact with a live wire while erecting a lamppost, leaving two dead and three injured

A routine lamppost installation has turned deadly in Kurigram Sadar Upazila, leaving two men dead and three others injured after they came into contact with a live electric wire.

The incident occurred in Ghogadaha Union, Sadar Police chief Jahangir Alam said.

The dead were identified as Umed Ali and Mizanur Rahman.

According to Ghogadaha Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Maleq, five individuals came into contact with a live electric wire during the installation.

“They were rushed to Kurigram Sadar Hospital, where two were pronounced dead. The survivors received primary treatment at the facility,” he added.

Officer Jahangir said the dead were electricians.
