Intern doctors at Osmani Medical College Hospital launch sine die strike after 'attack' on colleague

Intern doctors at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital have started an indefinite work abstention after one of their colleagues was allegedly assaulted by a patient's relatives.

Six people were injured after the relatives allegedly clashed with the interns and the medical college students who were protesting the prior attack in the early hours of Wednesday, according to police and witnesses.

The students also announced an indefinite shutdown of academic activities.

Kotwali Police chief Khan Mainul Zakir said the clashes had taken place in phases in front of the hospital's emergency ward from 12:45am to 1:30am.
