The Sankhyalaghu Oikyo Morcha, a minority rights group, has staged a human-chain protest demanding justice over the killing of garment factory worker Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh's Bhaluka.
The protest rally was held on Monday morning in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka, where members of the Hindu community carried placards condemning the murder and calling for the punishment of those responsible.
Nirmal Rosario, president of the Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikyo Parishad, said the killing was a “heinous crime” and urged the authorities to ensure swift justice.
“We strongly demand that those involved in this incident be brought to justice,” he said.

“At the same time, we call on the government to take strict action against the ongoing oppression of religious and ethnic minorities in different parts of Bangladesh.”
Referring to the situation after the Aug 5 uprising, Rosario said incidents targeting minority communities had increased.
“We have placed a report before the nation on behalf of the Oikyo Parishad, but we have yet to see any effective trial,” he said.
“Every incident that occurred after the mass uprising must be brought under judicial process.”
He said the human chain was aimed at pressing for special measures to ensure justice in the Dipu Chandra Das case.
“We want the government to seriously consider this matter and take visible action,” he said, adding that the organisation would continue to monitor the government’s response.
Following the rally, protesters brought out a procession that ended at the Naya Paltan intersection.
