The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has indicated that light to moderate rain may occur in some areas across all divisions.

In its Saturday morning bulletin, the forecaster said, from 9am, isolated showers accompanied by gusty winds and thunder are possible in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.

Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque told bdnews24.com, “[On Saturday], the 28th [of March], and [Sunday], the 29th, rain is likely in different parts of the country.

“Scattered showers may occur in one or two places [on Saturday], particularly in Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions. However, by afternoon, evening, or night, rainfall may spread to multiple places nationwide.”

When asked about the possibility of nor’wester storms, he said: “The anticipated showers may be accompanied by strong or squally winds.”

The Met Office noted that an extended low-pressure system is over West Bengal and nearby areas, while the seasonal low-pressure area remains in the southern Bay of Bengal.

Temperatures are expected to drop by 1–2°C over the next 24 hours nationwide.

In the past 24 hours, the highest temperature was recorded at 37.8°C in Jashore, and the lowest at 17°C in Sylhet.

The heaviest rainfall was measured in Dinajpur at 41mm, followed by Rangpur 40mm, Nilphamari-Dimla 32mm, Kurigram-Rajarhat 29mm, and Kishoreganj-Nikli 16mm.
