Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has left Beijing for Dhaka, wrapping up a six-day state visit that took him to Malaysia and China.
He departed on a China Southern flight from Beijing Daxing International Airport at 5pm local time on Friday, his Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman said.
The direct Beijing-Dhaka flight typically takes around five hours, meaning Tarique is expected to land at 8pm Bangladesh time or shortly after.
Tarique and his wife Zubaida Rahman were seen off by Chinese president's special envoy Yue Xiaoyong and given a farewell guard of honour by a smartly turned-out military contingent before walking the red carpet to board the flight.

The final day of the visit was the most high-profile. Tarique held a 50-minute delegation-level bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People around 10:45am local time, followed by a private one-on-one meeting -- something Foreign Affairs Advisor Humaiun Kobir described as “unprecedented”.
Xi and Tarique led the delegation talks before stepping aside for the private session.
Earlier in the day, Tarique paid tribute at the Monument to the People's Heroes at Tiananmen Square before meeting Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
He also held bilateral talks with Premier Li Qiang on Thursday and attended an investment conference.
The two countries signed 17 MoUs during the visit covering government ministries, investment and party-to-party ties, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Tarique arrived in China on Monday night from Malaysia, first travelling to the northeastern city of Dalian to attend the World Economic Forum before taking a high-speed train to Beijing on Wednesday afternoon.
The China trip was part of a broader foreign tour that began on Jun 21 when Tarique travelled to Malaysia at the invitation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim -- his first state visit after the BNP formed a government following its general election victory.
