The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is set to start selling cooking oil nationwide on Sunday with a Tk 20 reduction per litre.

Alongside oil, prices for red lentils and sugar have also been cut by Tk 10 and Tk 5 per kg respectively.

The TCB said in a media statement on Saturday that family cardholders and general consumers can buy cooking oil at Tk 115 per litre, sugar at Tk 80 per kg, and red lentils at Tk 70 per kg from mobile trucks across the country.

From Aug 10 to Sept 13, excluding Fridays, 60 trucks will operate in Dhaka, along with 25 in Chattogram, six in Gazipur, three in Cumilla city, 12 in Cumilla district, eight in Dhaka district, four in Faridpur and five each in Patuakhali and Bagerhat.

Each truck will serve 500 customers daily during this period, selling subsidised products.

Buyers can purchase goods by showing their national ID cards; smart cards are not required.

Each customer is allowed to buy up to two litres of oil, one kg of sugar and two kg of red lentils.

The TCB raised prices in May by Tk 35 for oil, Tk 20 for lentils, and Tk 15 for sugar, setting rates at Tk 135, Tk 80, and Tk 85 respectively.
