A woman has been found dead with her throat slashed in a home in Chattogram.

Police suspect she was murdered over a “domestic dispute” after recovering her body from the ground-floor flat of a building in the Khal Par area under Patenga Police Station in the early hours of Friday.

The woman has been identified as 23-year-old Tanzina Begum.

Originally from Nandail Upazila in Netrokona, Tanzina had been living in Chattogram with her husband and brother due to their jobs at a local garment factory.

Police say her husband has been missing since the incident.

“Her brother came home at night and, finding the door locked, grabbed a spare key from another brother. Upon entering the flat, he found Tanzina lying in a pool of blood,” said Patenga Police Station chief Shafiqul Islam.

Police recovered the body and confirmed that she had been fatally attacked in the throat with a sharp object. Her husband is currently on the run, the officer said.

Tanzina’s brother has filed a case over the incident, and police have launched a manhunt to apprehend her husband, Shafiqul added.
