Brahmaputra Express derails in Mymensingh, rail link to Dhaka suspended

Four wheels of the power car of a Dhaka-bound Brahmaputra Express derail in Mymensingh

Rail communication between Dhaka and Mymensingh has remained suspended after the power car of an intercity train went of the tracks.

The Brahmaputra Express derailed in Trishal Upazila around 9:30pm on Tuesday near Dhola Railway Station, according to Sub-Inspector Kartik Chandra Roy, chief of Gafargaon Railway Police Outpost.

He said four wheels of the power car of the Dhaka-bound Dewanganj intercity train went off the tracks, disrupting train movement on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route.

A rescue train is en route from Mymensingh, and authorities expect the situation to return to normal “soon”.
