The viva examinations for another 1350 candidates who passed the written test for the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service, or BCS, will begin on Mar 2.
In the fourth phase, the viva for candidates from both general and technical or professional cadres will continue until Mar 25, held every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
The Public Service Commission, or PSC, released the schedule on Thursday, which is available on both the commission’s website (www.bpsc.gov.bd) and the Teletalk Bangladesh Limited site (http://bpsc.teletalk.com.bd).
According to the schedule, the oral examination will start at 10am on the scheduled day at the PSC office in Dhaka’s Agargaon.
As many as 90 candidates will participate in the viva in one day.
The PSC is conducting the oral examination in phases for a total of 11,732 candidates who passed the written test of the 44th BCS.
The viva process for the 44th BCS, originally announced in 2021, has faced multiple delays.
However, after the examination for some candidates, the process was cancelled on Nov 18.
The exams were rescheduled to begin on May 8, 2024. The process had been temporarily halted twice—first due to the Anti-discrimination Student Movement and later, on Aug 25, following the fall of the Awami League government.
Earlier, a total of 3,930 candidates had taken the viva exams, out of 11,732 eligible candidates.
The newly formed PSC cancelled the exams in response to applicants’ concerns about fairness.
After the viva examination process was cancelled for the first time, the 44th BCS oral exams resumed on Dec 22.
In the first phase, the viva examination for 544 candidates applying for technical and professional cadre posts continued until Dec 31.
In the second phase, the viva for 1,860 out of 5,862 candidates who qualified for both general and technical or professional cadre posts took place from Jan 5 to Feb 5.
In the third phase, the oral examination for 900 candidates began on Feb 9 and will continue until Mar 6.
