Three people have died and seven others have been injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Faridpur Sadar Upazila.

The accident occurred around 12:30pm on Thursday on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the Upazila’s Kanaipur, according to local highway police outpost chief Salauddin.

The deceased have been identified as Atiar Sheikh from Chuadanga, Ranjit Chandra Das from Barguna, and Subarna Begum from Rangpur.

The seven injured individuals are receiving treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Police said that a Royal Express bus heading to Dhaka crashed into a Jami DD Paribahan bus from Magura on the bridge near Kanaipur Bazar. The front sections of both vehicles were badly damaged.

At least 10 people were sent to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared three of them dead.

The OC added that rescue operations were completed quickly, and traffic on the highway has returned to normal.
