Three people have been killed after a bus ploughed into an autorickshaw, locally known as an easy bike, in Narsingdi's Madhabdi.

The accident occurred around 11:30pm on Thursday on the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway in the Rainadi area, said Monir Hossain, chief of Itakhola Highway Police Station.

The dead were identified as Fahim Mia, 30, the driver of the easy bike, Siam Mia, 22, and Sabbir Hossain, 28. All three were residents of Rainadi village.

Relatives of the victims said the three were travelling from Madhabdi to Rainadi on the easy bike. As they were crossing the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway, a speeding bus bound for Sylhet from Dhaka rammed into the vehicle.

Two of them died on the spot, while the other succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka.

Police recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families, according to Monir. The bus has also been seized, but the driver and his aide fled the scene.
