Will help Bangladesh hold peaceful polls, says UK High Commissioner Cooke

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke says the country will help Bangladesh to hold a peaceful election.

The British high commissioner made the remarks an hour-long meeting with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission’s headquarters on Monday.

Cooke said, “The UK welcomes the announcement of elections next year. The UK will help Bangladesh hold a fair, acceptable, and peaceful election. We are ready to provide civic education and training for polling agents.”

A two-member delegation led by Cooke met the CEC earlier in the morning.
