The Public Service Commission has published the results of the preliminary test as part of the 50th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exams.

In the results published on Tuesday, 12,385 examinees emerged successful, moving ahead to compete in two more stages.

A total of 290,951 candidates applied to take the preliminary examination.

The test was held simultaneously on Jan 30 at 190 centres across Dhaka and all divisional cities.

Candidates can view their results on the Public Service Commission’s official website (www.bpsc.gov.bd).

Results are also available via SMS from Teletalk numbers.

The preliminary examination consisted of a 200-mark MCQ examination with 200 questions.

The PSC said each correct answer carried one mark, while 0.5 marks were deducted for each incorrect answer.

The PSC published the circular for the 50th BCS on Nov 26, announcing recruitment for 2,150 posts, including 1,755 in various cadres and 395 non-cadre positions.

Applications opened on Dec 4 and closed on Dec 31.

Among the cadres, the highest number of recruitments will be in the health cadre with 650 posts, followed by 200 in the administration cadre and 185 in the education cadre.

The commission said it plans to complete the entire BCS process within one year.

According to the PSC, the written examination is scheduled to begin on Apr 9, with results expected by Jul 30.

Oral examinations are scheduled to start on Aug 10, with final results likely to be published on Nov 25.

While the preliminary and written tests will be held in eight divisional cities, the oral examinations will take place at the PSC headquarters.

The commission said no applications will be accepted for changing examination centres.
