A total of 18 suspects, including Hasina and her niece and British MP Tulip Siddiq, are accused in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Judge Rabiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge’s Court set the date for the verdict after the arguments in the case concluded on Sunday.

Lawyer Hafizur Rahman argued on behalf of the ACC and petitioned the court for a maximum punishment of life in prison.
No lawyer received the opportunity to present arguments on behalf of 17 defendants, including Hasina, Tulip and Bobby as they are considered absconding in the eyes of the court. As such, they were not allowed to defend themselves.
Lawyer Shahinur Islam presented arguments on behalf of Khurshid Alam, the only accused currently in jail. He sought Khurshid's acquittal, claiming that the ACC had "failed to prove" the charges.
