Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Md Nurul Islam has submitted 38 audit reports for the 2021-22 financial year to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The reports were presented at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, confirmed Press Secretary Saleh Shibli.

“A total of 38 reports covering various government departments and agencies were submitted. The prime minister was briefed on the observations and recommendations regarding compliance and performance audits contained within these reports,” Shibli said.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani, Finance Secretary Khairuzzaman Mozumder, and other high-ranking officials from relevant departments were present during the submission.

The audit reports were prepared in accordance with Article 128(1) of the Constitution and Section 5 of the Comptroller and Auditor General (Additional Functions) Act, 1974.

Following this procedure, the CAG submitted the 38 compliance and performance audit reports -- covering 17 ministries and divisions, along with their respective directorates, offices, and projects -- to the prime minister before they are tabled in the parliament.

During the meeting, the prime minister laid special emphasis on conducting performance audits alongside compliance audits.

He stressed the importance of ensuring transparency and accountability in the expenditure of public money and verifying whether the objectives of various government-implemented projects are being effectively met for the benefit of the people.
