Zubaida Rahman has attended the closing ceremony of the “Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit” at the White House in Washington, DC.
The BNP media cell said the event was held at the White House on Wednesday. First ladies and wives of state leaders from more than 45 countries around the world participated in the summit.
US First Lady Melania Trump officially inaugurated the summit at the US State Department on Tuesday. Zubaida participated in the two-day conference at her invitation. She was accompanied by Dhaka University Prof Morshed Hasan Khan, Dhaka Medical College orthopaedic surgeon Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah and Barrister Mehnaz Mannan.
The media cell reported that on Wednesday morning, US First Lady and summit host Melania welcomed all the guests, including Zubaida, at the White House.
Zubaida also paid a courtesy call on Melania.
During the meeting, the two of them agreed to work together for the welfare of children. Zubaida thanked Melania for organising such an important summit.
Before the closing ceremony, Zubaida also met and exchanged greetings with the first ladies and wives of state heads in other countries besides Melania Trump.
Zubaida left Dhaka on Mar 22 to attend the “Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit”. She travelled to the United States, with a stopover in London.
Earlier on Tuesday, Zubaida, wife of Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, spoke at the opening ceremony of the summit.
In her speech, she highlighted various groundbreaking steps and initiatives taken by the Bangladesh government to improve the quality of life of children.
The BNP media cell said that the representatives of world leaders participating in the summit expressed deep interest in this experience of Bangladesh and also expressed their solidarity with Bangladesh for the welfare of children.
Zubaida was interviewed by the White House at the summit. In the interview, she said that Bangladesh is committed to learning from global experiences and working in partnership with other first ladies and spouses for a brighter future for all children in the world.
Alongside the summit, an exhibition was held with the participation of 11 leading technology companies from the United States, showcasing various innovative technologies and applications for improving children's education. Zubaida visited the exhibition.
