Leaders of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) have gone to the home ministry to demand action after the shooting of Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman Hadi.
DUCSU representatives went to the Secretariat on Monday with three demands, including the arrest of those involved in the attempted killing.
The move followed a march that began at around 1pm from the DUCSU building, with students and members of the public joining the procession. The march passed through the university area and ended near the Shikkha Bhaban intersection, where some protesters remained as talks were held inside the Secretariat.

DUCSU leaders said their demands also included a nationwide drive to recover illegal weapons and the arrest of militants linked to banned organisations.
During the march, protesters chanted slogans calling for justice and accountability over the shooting.
The protest came amid wider demonstrations in the capital. Earlier in the day, members of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti, the student wing of the National Citizen Party, blocked the Shahbagh intersection, demanding the resignation of the home affairs advisor. The demonstration caused severe traffic disruption in the area.

As protests continued, Hadi was flown out of the country for advanced medical treatment. An air ambulance carrying him left Dhaka for Singapore around 2pm on Monday, according to officials.
The Chief Advisor’s Office said arrangements had been made to take Hadi to the Accident and Emergency Department of Singapore General Hospital.
Hadi, who had announced plans to run for the Dhaka-8 seat as an independent candidate in the upcoming parliamentary election, was shot on Dec 12 while campaigning in the Bijoynagar area. He remains in critical condition.
