In the span of a week, Sylhet has been struck by another earthquake.
The tremor registered at a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale. It was felt at 12:19 pm on Sunday, said Assistant Meteorologist Shah Md Sajib Hossain.
He said, “The epicentre of the quake was in Chhatak Upazila in Sunamganj. No casualties were reported in the mild quake.”
On Sept 14, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake was felt in different parts of the country, including Sylhet at 5:11 pm. The epicentre of that earthquake was in India’s Assam, 131 miles from Sylhet.
Another quake had hit Sylhet on Mar 5. The epicentre of that tremor was in the border area of India and Myanmar and the magnitude was 5.6 on the Richter scale.
Before that, a tremor was felt in Sylhet on Feb 27, at 2:55am. The epicentre of that one was in Morigao in Assam. The magnitude was 5.3 on the Richter scale.
