Applications for the recruitment of 100,822 teachers in non-government secondary schools and colleges under the monthly pay order (MPO) can be made from Jun 22.
Interested candidates who have received online recommendations for registration as teachers can apply until Jul 1. The age limit has been set at 35 years.
The Non-Government Teachers' Registration & Certification Authority (NTRCA) has finalised the public notice, setting this deadline for the application of a record number of teachers for grades 6 to 12.
NTRCA Education and Standards Branch Deputy Director Prof Mohammad Abdur Rahim Khondoker said the public notice will be published in newspapers on Tuesday.
“Candidates will have the opportunity to apply according to this public notice from Jun 22 to Jul 1,” he told bdnews24.com on Monday.
A copy of the public notice was also sent to other media outlets on Monday.
Of 100,822 vacancies, 46,211 are in non-government schools and colleges, 53,501 in madrasahs, and 1,110 in technical and business management educational institutions, all of which are MPO-listed or receive government salary allowance.
According to the notification, candidates will have to apply through the designated website (http://ngi.teletalk.com.bd). The application fee has been set at Tk 1,000.
A candidate registered as a teacher can give their preference for a maximum of 40 vacancies in different educational institutions through one application.
If the candidate does not secure a position in any of their 40 preferred institutions, they can also indicate whether they are willing to accept a job offer at another institution based on merit.
The public notification also highlights the removal of women’s quota in this recruitment.
Earlier, it was mandatory to appoint women candidates for 40 percent of the total teacher posts in urban private educational institutions and 20 percent of the total teacher posts in non-government educational institutions in urban areas, which was known as the “women's quota”.
On May 15, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education of the education ministry announced the cancellation of this provision of reservation of seats for female candidates.
This notification for the recruitment of a record number of teachers has been presented as the sixth public notification, through which candidates will get the opportunity to apply against the largest number of vacancies so far.
The number of private MPO-listed educational institutions in the country is 30,826. Of these, 17,634 are schools, 2,868 are colleges, 8,229 are madrasahs, and 2,222 are technical educational institutions.
Through this public notification, NTRCA will recruit teachers for various private schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical educational institutions.
The notification mentions the candidate’s age should be 35 years or less on Jun 4, 2025, and the validity of the registration certificate should be within three years from the date of publication of the examination results.
The NTRCA has been issuing teacher registration certificates since 2005.
Initially, the power to recruit teachers rested with the governing bodies or managing committees of individual educational institutions for a period of 10 years.
That changed on Dec 30, 2015, when the then government expanded the NTRCA’s role, giving it not only certification authority but also the power to recommend appointments.
Since then, through five separate mass recruitment notices, the NTRCA has made 132,898 final recommendations for teacher appointments, as of Aug 31 this year.
Earlier, NTRCA published the fifth public notice on Mar 31, 2024, for the appointment of 96,736 teacher vacancies. In the end, 19,586 registered candidates got final appointments.
