Police have failed to submit the arrest report for ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, Rehana’s son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, daughters British MP Tulip Siddiq and Azmina Siddique Ruponti, along with 17 others, in three separate cases related to "abuse of power" involving the allocation of nearly .20 hectares of Rajuk plots.
The report was due on Sunday in the court of Dhaka’s Senior Metropolitan Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib, but police could not provide it.
The court has now fixed May 12 for submission of the report, said Aminul Islam, assistant director of the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) prosecution wing.
On Apr 13, the court issued arrest warrants against the accused as they remained absconding, setting Apr 27 for the submission of the arrest report.
Among the three cases, Rehana was named the prime accused in one, Bobby in another, and Azmira in the third.
Tulip and Hasina were named as accomplices.
Earlier, on Apr 10, arrest warrants were issued against Hasina, her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and 16 others in another ACC case over irregularities in Purbachal plot allocation.
In two more cases filed on Apr 15 over anomalies in the allocation of plots in the Purbachal New Town Project, arrest warrants were issued against Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and 27 others.
On Jan 13, the ACC’s Deputy Director Salahuddin filed a case against Rehana for allegedly abusing power and obtaining a 10-katha (.06 hectares) plot in the Purbachal project.
The case named Tulip, Hasina and 13 others.
Following investigation, ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya submitted a chargesheet against 17 accused on Mar 10.
Keya filed a separate case against Azmira over another allegation of corruption plot allocation on Jan 13, naming Tulip, Hasina, and 13 others.
Following the investigation, a chargesheet was submitted against 18 accused on Mar 10.
Another case was filed the same day by ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan against Radwan on similar charges.
Hasina, Tulip and 14 others were also accused.
After investigation, a chargesheet was submitted against 18 individuals on Mar 10.
All the cases were filed with the ACC’s Integrated District Office in Dhaka.
