In keeping with tradition, the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in Dhaka will be held at the National Eidgah Maidan at 8:30am. Additionally, five Eid prayer services will be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
President Md Shahabuddin, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, Supreme Court justices, politicians, and people from all walks of life will attend the main Eid congregation at the Eidgah.
Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek from Baitul Mukarram will lead the prayer, with Muezzin Muhammad Habibur Rahman reciting verses of the Quran.
Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the country on Monday, if the crescent moon of Shawwal is sighted on Sunday.
The National Eidgah ground adjacent to the High Court has already been prepared for the main congregation. The Dhaka South City Corporation has arranged for about 35,000 people to pray there simultaneously.
Security measures have been heightened for the main Eid congregation. Senior officers of law-enforcing agencies have inspected the arrangements and expressed satisfaction.
Despite early preparations, if adverse weather or any other unavoidable circumstances prevent the Eidgah congregation, the main Eid prayer will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9:00am.
Every year, the country's largest Eid congregation is held at Sholakia ground in Kishoreganj. This year marks the 198th Eid ul-Fitr congregation there, scheduled for 10:00am. The congregation will be led by Maulana Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah, Khatib of Boro Bazar Jame Mosque.
To facilitate travel for worshippers, Bangladesh Railway has arranged two special trains called "Sholakia Special". The first train will depart from Mymensingh at 5:45am, and the other from Bhairab at 6:00am, both heading to Kishoreganj. Both trains will return from Kishoreganj at 12:00pm after the Eid congregation.
In recent years, the Gor-e-Shaheed Boro Maidan in Dinajpur has been competing with Sholakia in hosting the largest Eid congregation. Organisers claim that the 22-acre ground can accommodate 500,000 to 600,000 worshippers at a time.
The Eid congregation at this venue is scheduled for 9:00am and will be led by Maulana Motiur Rahman Kashemi.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department does not anticipate storms or heavy rain on Eid day. Instead, the heat is expected to subside slightly.
EID CONGREGATIONS IN DHAKA
Five congregations have been arranged at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Eid day.
The Islamic Foundation said that the first, second, third and fourth congregations will be held at 7am, 8am, 9am, and 10am respectively. The fifth congregation will be held at 10:45am.
Two Eid congregations will be held at Dhaka University Central Mosque at 8:00am and 9:00am. Other than that, two more congregations will take place at 8:00am at the Salimullah Muslim Hall lawn and the playground east of Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall.
For residents of Dhaka North City Corporation, an Eid congregation will be held at 8:30am at the field adjacent to the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center, at the old trade fair grounds. This is expected to be the largest Eid congregation in Dhaka.
Another congregation will be held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament at 8:00am.
EID CONGREGATIONS IN CHATTOGRAM
This year, the main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in Chattogram will be held at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque.
The first prayer, led by the mosque’s Khatib Allama Syed Abu Taleb Mohammad Alauddin Al Qaderi, will be held at 8am. The second will be held a half hour later.
Additionally, another Eid prayer will be held at 8:00am at the Lal Dighi Chattogram City Corporation Shahi Jame Mosque.
Several other mosques in the city will also host Eid prayers under the supervision of Chattogram City Corporation, including Sheikh Farid Chasma Mazar Mosque, Sugandha Residential Area Jame Mosque, Chawk Bazar City Corporation Jame Mosque, Jahur Hawkers’ Market Jame Mosque, South Khulshi Residential Area Jame Mosque, Arefin Nagar Central Graveyard Jame Mosque, Sagorika Gorubazar Jame Mosque, and Sagorika Maa Ayesha Siddiqua CCC Jame Mosque.
However, unlike previous years, the CCC ward councillors will not be organising Eid prayers at ward levels. Instead, local mosques and Eidgahs will arrange prayers independently, with necessary support from the city corporation.
