Activists from the Inqilab Moncho have thrown eggs at the prison van carrying former ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak during.

The incident occurred in front of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court on Monday afternoon.

The leaders and activists of the group chanted anti-Awami League slogans at the time.

Badda Police Station Sub-Inspector Golam Kibria Khan petitioned on Dec 24 to show Palak arrested in a case over the attempted killing of Durjoy Ahmed in Dhaka’s Badda during the July Uprising. The court had set Jan 7 for the hearing. However, Palak was not produced in court that day. Therefore, a new date was fixed for Monday.

He was produced in court during the hearing on Monday. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman ordered Palak to be shown arrested in the case after the hearing. After that, the former state minister was kept in the court's custody.

Monday was also the date of a hearing in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho Convener Sharif Osman Bin Hadi at the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam. The plaintiff in the case, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of the Inqilab Moncho, appeared in court for the hearing. He asked for two days to review the charge sheet. The court granted the petition and fixed Thursday as the date for taking the charge sheet into consideration. Hadi's brother Omar Hadi also came to the court.

After the hearing, the leaders and activists of Inqilab Moncho gathered in front of the CMM court. There they learnt that Palak had been produced in court.

Around 1:30pm, a prison van carrying Palak left the court's jail for Kashimpur Jail. When the vehicle arrived in front of the CMM court, the leaders and activists of the Inqilab Moncho threw eggs. The prison van carrying Palak continued towards Kashimpur following the incident.

According to the details of the Durjoy case, he was shot in Central Badda on Jul 20 during the July Uprising. The attack left him blind in both eyes. He was also hit in the back of the head and seriously injured. Afterwards, he was treated at various hospitals.

Later, Durjoy filed a case against 90 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, over the incident.
