Police have recovered the body of a US citizen from the Westin Dhaka.

Gulshan Police Station chief Hafizur Rahman said the body of the 50-year-old Terrence Arvelle Jackson was recovered from his hotel room on Sunday afternoon.

The American embassy in Dhaka later took custody of the body without a postmortem after confirming natural causes of death, he added.

The deceased had been in Bangladesh on business for several months and checked into the hotel on Aug 30, according to police.

Hafizur said hotel staff failed to get a response from him on Sunday afternoon and, with police and embassy officials present, opened the room with a master key to find him dead. An embassy doctor examined the body before it was taken into embassy custody.

Investigators from CID, PBI and other units also visited the scene.
