Tamanna Nusrat Bubly, a former MP to a women’s reserved seat and the wife of former Narsingdi municipal mayor Lokman Hossain, has been shown arrested in a case at Tejgaon Police Station over the detonation of improvised explosives during a flash procession.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Jonaid issued the order on Monday following a petition from the case investigation officer, said Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Omar Faruq Faruqi.

Police arrested Bubly from Dhaka’s Mirpur in a special operation on the night of Sept 28.

The following day, she was sent to jail in a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Tejgaon Police Station. She has been in jail since then.

The investigating officer of the case, Tejgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Shariful Islam, petitioned on Apr 29 to show Bubly arrested in the case.

The court fixed Monday for a hearing in the presence of the accused.

Bubly was produced in court during the hearing. Faruqi representing the state, argued in favour of showing her arrested.

After the hearing, an order was given to show her arrested and send her to jail.

The petition for the arrest says, “During the investigation of the case, after questioning locals and investigating the area, it was discovered that the suspect Bubly financed and ordered the procession. She actively participated in the procession by marching around the scene with other accused on Sept 7, 2025.

“Afterwards, she quickly left the area. Moreover, sufficient evidence has been found regarding her involvement in the incident noted in the case.”

Tejgaon Police Station SI AKM Niazuddin Mollah filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act on Sept 7 last year in connection with the improvised explosives blasts in the flash procession.

The case details say, "On Sept 7, around noon, leaders and activists of the banned organisation Chhatra League and the Awami League, Jubo League and affiliated organisations – which have had their activities suspended - held a procession with banners in front of the Park Town Restaurant in 2/A Monipuripara in Tejgaon Thana in the capital.

“At one stage, they detonated two cocktail bombs, one after the other, with the aim of destabilising the state and creating panic among the people. Later, the police arrived at the scene around 1:35pm. The police arrested some of them and the rest fled."
