Rumeen Farhana, the independent candidate for Brahmanbaria-2, has been served a show-cause notice over allegations that she incited a mob and obstructed a mobile court during an official operation.
The government has asked her to explain her actions in connection with the incident.
The letter alleges that Rumeen organised a large public gathering in Islamabad village, Sarail, on Saturday night, an act deemed a violation of the electoral code of conduct.
The gathering was immediately intercepted and disbanded by authorities.
During the operation, Executive Magistrate Shahria Hasan Khan ran a mobile court and fined an individual named Jewel Mia, Tk 40,000.
The letter claims that at this point, Rumeen behaved aggressively towards the magistrate, repeatedly pointing her finger and making threatening gestures.
The letter also said Jewel and others accompanying Rumeen adopted a confrontational stance, inciting a “mob” to obstruct judicial proceedings and threaten the magistrate on duty.
This has been described as a clear breach of election regulations, according to the report.
The formal complaint also included a link to a video of the incident, which has since circulated on social media.
