Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has ordered all police stations across Bangladesh, including those in the capital, to be cleared of alleged brokers, warning that strict action will follow any negligence or corruption within the force.
The directive came during his visit to Ramna Model Police Station in Dhaka on Saturday, where he instructed senior officers and relevant personnel to ensure proper service delivery, according to a media statement.
He urged all officers on duty to serve citizens with honesty, fairness, and sincerity, stressing that public trust depends on the integrity of frontline policing.
Salahuddin cautioned that proven allegations of negligence or corrupt practices would invite stringent disciplinary measures.
During the visit, he inspected the station’s facilities, including service rooms, detention cells, and barracks located on the roof, and spoke directly with citizens seeking assistance.
The minister also held discussions with senior officials and on-duty personnel, reviewing their responsibilities and listening to operational concerns to better understand service gaps.
He emphasised that police stations must function as accessible and transparent public service hubs, free from any form of unofficial interference or malpractice.
