A car driver has died after being stabbed in the neck in Natore's Lalpur Upazila.

The incident occurred around 10pm on Thursday on the Gopalpur–Lalpur Road near Gopalpur Mills High School, according to local police station chief Mominuzzaman.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Saidur Rahman, a native of Bamangram in Kushtia’s Bheramara.

The car was travelling from Bheramara to Natore's Bonpara via Lalpur when it was stopped by the assailants, said Mominuzzaman. They allegedly stabbed Saidur in the neck inside the car and fled.

Saidur tried to get out of the car to save himself but collapsed on the spot. Locals later saw the bloodied body by the roadside and informed police.

A knife was recovered from inside the car, with preliminary evidence suggesting the victim died from excessive bleeding due to the stab wound, police said.

Multiple police teams are working to uncover the motive behind the killing and a person has been taken into custody for questioning, according to Natore Additional Superintendent of Police Md Ifthe Khair Alam.
