The results of the 2024-25 academic year medical college admission test have been published, with 5,372 candidates selected for 37 government colleges.

A media statement from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday said the results can be accessed on the website of the Directorate General of Medical Education, or DGME, (https://dgme.portal.gov.bd/) and the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (https://mefwd.gov.bd/).

Rubina Yasmin, additional director general at the DGME, said: "All information related to the test results has been submitted to the ministry. The results will be uploaded to our website within an hour, from where students can retrieve their scores."

This year's medical entrance exam took place at 53 venues under 19 centres including Dhaka on Friday.

According to the statement, the selection of 5,372 candidates was based on the admission test scores, GPA from SSC or equivalent and HSC or equivalent exams, and the marks obtained in the admission test.

This year, 135,665 students applied to participate in the MBBS admission test, with 131,729 students appearing for the exam. Among them, 60,095 candidates passed.

The pass mark was 40.

The pass rate for this year’s MBBS admission test stands at 45.62 percent.

Out of the successful candidates, 37,936 are female, accounting for 63.13 percent of the total pass rate, while 22,159 are male, making up 36.87 percent of the total.

The statement also said one candidate scored the highest marks, achieving 90.75.

The enrolment period for government medical colleges will run from Feb 2-8.

Meanwhile, the notification for online applications for admission to private medical colleges will be published on Jan 23, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

There are 5,380 seats available across 38 government medical colleges, with an additional 6,293 seats in 67 private medical colleges in Bangladesh.

However, Narayanganj Medical College has not yet begun its academic activities.
