Bangladesh beat Nepal to seal semi-final spot in South Asia Games football

Bangladesh have edged Nepal 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the South Asian Games football.

Defending champions Bangladesh came from behind to seal the victory in the Group B match in Guwahati, India, on Thursday.

Bangladesh were held to a 1-1 draw in their first tie against Bhutan. They go into the semis as group champions with four points.

Despite the defeat, Nepal, who beat Bhutan in their first match, also booked a berth in the last four as the group runners-up.

They drew first blood when Ananta Tamang found the back of the net in the third minute of the game.

Raihan Hasan scored the equaliser in the 42nd minute before Nabib Newaz Jibon produced a stunning volley to score the winner in the dying seconds of the first half.

India and the Maldives have moved into the semis from Group A.

Bangladesh will take on hosts India on Sunday.
