The three elected by nominations from independent lawmakers’ alliance will be enlisted as ruling MPs from the third session of Parliament that started on Monday.

Assistant Secretary at the Parliament Secretariat Shawkat Akbar informed the matter to the Election Commission in a letter sent on Sunday.

Of the 50 reserved women MP seats, the tenth Parliament had 38 MPs from the Awami League, one each from the Bangladesh Workers' Party and JaSaD and five Jatiya Party MPs.

The rest three, who has now joined the ruling party, were from the independent lawmakers’ alliance.

The Awami League-led Grand Alliance formed government for a second straight term after the Jan 5 polls, which the BNP and its allies had boycotted.
