It tied up with the KOICA Bangladesh Alumni Association (KBAA), National Institute of Advanced Nursing Education and Research (NIANER) and Directorate General of Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) for the health awareness event on Sunday.

A blood donation camp was also organised. KOICA Country Director Joe Hyun-Gue spoke at the event.

The health sector is one of KOICA’s core priority areas.

Bangladesh has about 45,000 registered nurses, which is “inadequate” considering the country’s large population.

“Establishment of the National Institute of Advanced Practice Nurses in Bangladesh” with a budget of $13.75 million has been developed and designed according to the Bangladesh context.

The main objective of this project is to establish an advanced higher level nursing education centre for developing qualified nurses.
