The new vice-chancellor, however, said he would focus on education and research during his term.

But Prof Kamrul Hassan Khan added that patients’ services would not be ignored.

“A hospital is the laboratory for learning,” he said on Tuesday while interacting with journalists.

He said he had already talked with his colleagues including doctors, nurses, and supporting staff on offering “better coordinated” treatment for patients.

“But our main target is to develop more skilled post-graduate doctors,” he said.

Khan, a professor of pathology at the university, was appointed VC last month.

He is the secretary general of Peshajibi Somonnay Parishad, a pro-Awami League platform of professionals.
