“We’ve decided to conduct Friday’s admission test,” JnU Teachers’ Association chief Md Ali Noor told bdnews24.com on Thursday.

Admission test to JnU’s ‘B’ unit is scheduled for Friday. An estimated 40,634 candidates are expected to take the tests for the 720 seats.

Entrance tests to public universities ran into trouble after disgruntled teachers hit the streets over pay scale.

On Wednesday, the JnU Teachers’ Association announced they would boycott the admission tests at an emergency meeting.

The Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers’ Association (FBUTA) expelled JnU Teachers’ Association for the decision.

The JnU academic council held an emergency meeting on Thursday morning and urged the teachers to change their decision.

“We’ve backed off from our yesterday’s decision,” teachers’ association chief Ali Noor said.

But entrance tests to other units are still uncertain.

“We have not decided anything about them,” he said, replying to a question.

Entrance test for ‘C’ unit is scheduled for Oct 16, ‘A’ unit for Oct 30, ‘D’ unit for Nov 6 and ‘E’ unit for Nov 13.

Altogether 185,079 candidates have applied for sitting the tests.
