But no case has been filed 24 hours after student Tapash Sarkar was killed by stray bullet during the Sunday clash.

He later died at the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).

Hathazari Police Station OC Ismail Hossain said five people were named and around 60 unidentified more were accused in the case filed Sunday night under the Arms Act.

Police said the five – Md Anis, Ashrafuzzaman Asha, Rashed Hossain, Rubel Dey and Rabid Raihan - were activists of the Chhatra League faction 'VX' who fought rival 'CFC' faction.

The clash occurred after both factions had paid respect to martyred intellectuals on Sunday morning.

Sarkar was standing the porch of the Shah Amanat Hall when he was shot in the back. Five others were also injured.

The CFC claimed he was their supporter.

Later in the day, police raided Shahjalal Hall, situated opposite of Shah Amanat, and detained 30 students.

A revolver, sharp weapons and some local weapons were recovered.
