Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-ur-Rashid ordered police to record an FIR (first information report) on the matter on Wednesday.

According to the charges brought by SHM Habibur Rahman Azad, the company sent him an SMS in September 2012 with an offer to buy 40 minutes of talk-time at Tk 10.

"I paid for the offer but did not get the opportunity to use it. I was told beforehand that the 40 minutes of talk-time was already spent," Azad told bdnews24.com.

The Grameenphone officials named in the case include former CEOs Tore Johnson, Vivek Sood and Rajeev Sethi.

Grameenphone's Head of External Communications Talat Kamal refused to make any instant comment, but said the company would react to the issue later.

Plaintiff Azad blamed regulators BTRC and police for the delay in filing the case.

"It took me five years to start the case. BTRC delayed it for three years, and police did not record it either," he told bdnews24.com.
