Cyber city to be built in Bakolia, high-tech park in Raozan

State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak has said the preliminary assessment to build a cyber city and hi-tech park in Chittagong has started.

“We have undertaken a plan to build a cyber city on a 98-acre stretch in Bakolia and a high-tech park on a 300-acre piece of land alongside the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology in Raozan.”

The state minister was inaugurating a three-day Digital Innovation Fair at the port city’s MA Aziz Stadium on Thursday.

Palak said they had also undertaken a ‘Learning and earning’ project to provide three-month long training on freelancing to youths in Chittagong.

He said the government planned to train 55,000 freelancers over the next three years.

According to him, the government has raised earnings from information and technology sector to $250 million from $23 million after coming to power.

“We want to raise it to a billion dollars within 2019.”
