The district administrations have imposed Section 144 in Kandirpar Pubali Chattar-Town Hall area of Comilla City and Kachpur Bridge area of Narayanganj as arch rivals Awami League and BNP-led 18-Party alliance called programmes in the areas.

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have also been deployed in sensitive areas to pre-empt any untoward incident.
Ruling Awami League and the BNP-led 18-Party alliance had called counter rallies in Kandirpar Pubali Chattar-Town Hall area in Comilla at the same time on Friday.
Comilla Deputy Commissioner Md Tofazzal Hossain Miah told bdnews24.com: “The prohibitory order will remain effective from 8pm on Thursday until further notice.”
Comilla (South) BNP unit General Secretary Amin-Ur-Rashid said, “We will hold our rally at any cost tomorrow (Friday) despite the prohibitory order imposed here.”
Comilla Mayor Monirul Haq Sakku and BNP’s central leader Monirul Haque had also called a rally in the Biswaroad area of Poduar Bazar on Friday.
He said, “We will hold a peaceful rally at our scheduled place.”
Awami League leader Shamim Osman had called a rally for Friday in Kachpur Bridge area in Narayanganj.
The district BNP later called another rally in the same area on the same day, triggering tension among people.
Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Monojkanti Boral told bdnews24.com: “The order will be in effect from 12 O’ clock on Thursday until further notice.”
