Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has paid floral tributes to those killed on Aug 15, 1975.

She went to the Banani Graveyard in Dhaka after paying respects to Bangladesh's founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the National Mourning Day on Friday.
Hasina placed floral wreathes at the graves as the Prime Minister and then as the chief of the ruling Awami League.
On this day in 1975, the then President Bangabandhu, along with most his family members, were killed by a group of rogue army officials. Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana survived, as they were abroad.
The renegade army officials killed the Father of the Nation along with his wife Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, sons Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russel, daughters-in-law Sultana Kamal and Rosy Jamal, younger brother Sheikh Abu Naser, nephew Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni and brother-in-law Abdur Rab Serniyabat, Moni’s wife Begum Arju Moni and Serniabat’s daughter ‘Baby’, son ‘Arif’ and grandson Sukanto Babu, Bangabandhu's relative Shahid Sherniabat and Rintu; police's special branch Sub Inspector Siddiqur Rahman, security officer of Bangabandhu's Col Zamil.
Hasina prayed for the salvation of their souls.
She paid respects at her father's grave at Tungiparha.
The day is a national holiday.
Apart from various government programmes, the ruling Awami League is organising a string of programmes to mark the day.
