Biman flight leaves for Jeddah with Hajj pilgrims

The first Hajj flight of 2017 took off Monday morning carrying 418 pilgrims to the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah.

Biman Bangladesh flight BG 1011 left Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport at approximately 7:55am.
 
Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Religious Affairs Minister Matiur Rahman saw the first batch of pilgrims off at the airport.
 
Three other flights carrying pilgrims will leave for Jeddah Monday afternoon, evening and night. The regular Jeddah-bound flight, which leaves at night, will also be carrying pilgrims.

>> 127,198 pilgrims will go to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. Of them, 110,000 will use government arrangements and the other 17,198 will make arrangements privately
 
>> The special flights that will take the pilgrims to Jeddah, will run until Aug 26. The return flights will start from September 6 and continue until October 5.
 
>> Bangladesh Biman’s 177 dedicated and 33 scheduled flights will carry 63,599 pilgrims while 169 dedicated and 30 scheduled flights will bring back the pilgrims from Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh
 
>> The remaining 63,599 pilgrims will come back by Saudi Arabian Airlines dedicated flights
