BIRDEM Hospital’s liver surgeon Prof Dr Mohammad Ali, who performed the first liver transplantation in Bangladesh, was also present with him.

About 2,300 doctors and 10,000 staff work at 14 hospitals of Delhi-based Max Healthcare.

A large number of patients from Bangladesh go to India for liver transplantation and other liver-related surgeries.

Over 150 liver transplants have been done on Bangladeshi patients by Dr Gupta's team, according to the hospital.
