Homemaker held over ‘suspicious’ death of Chittagong domestic worker

A homemaker has been detained in Chittagong after her househelp died in unclear circumstances.

The detainee, Shaheda Akhter claims that the 12-year-old girl fell off the roof, according to police.

“Shaheda brought Lima to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) claiming she had fallen off the roof,” Bayazid Bastami Police Station OC Mohammad Mohsin said.

Lima Aktar worked for the household for two years, he said adding police were questioning Shaheda.

Doctors declared Lima dead once she was brought to the hospital, said CMCH police camp's Assistant Sub Inspector Md Alauddin.

“The incident seemed suspicious and so Shaheda was taken to the police station,” he said.
