But, their injuries are not 'very serious', and the left arm spinner is out of danger, said one of his relatives.

Having made his international debut in 2004, Razzak played for the national team last time in 2014.

The accident occurred near Gopalganj's Bhatiaparha on Tuesday afternoon, Kashiyani Police Station OC AKM Ali Noor said.

His relative Abdullah Bony said Razzak was at the wheel when the accident occurred. His wife Ishrat Jahan Oni, 2-year old son Adian, a sister, and two nieces were in car.

He lost control of the car when a tyre punctured near Bhatiarparha around 5pm, and the vehicle fell into a roadside canal.

Razzak and his family returned to their village home at Syedparha in Fakirhat at midnight after being treated at Khulna Medical College Hospital, Bony said.

After receiving the news about the accident, police rescued them from the scene, the OC said.

Bony said the car was damaged in the road crash.

"Everyone in the car sustained minor injuries. There were several bruises on different parts of Razzak's body," he added.

The bowler was an important cog in the Bangladesh’s spin bowling attack for a decade. He picked 207 wickets in 153 ODI matches. He also claimed 23 wickets in 12 Tests and 44 wickets in 34 T20Is.
