People are dying from extreme heat, which is also killing a large number of chickens and destroying tea plants
More than Tk 66.99 billion was made in the sector between 2009-2016, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon said on Wednesday.
He told the parliament that Bangladesh Biman, after posting losses for years , started making profits in the last two financial years.
He said rising fuel prices and the use of aging aircraft like F-28, DC 10-30 and A 310-300 were the reasons behind losses at the national carrier.
“Their repairs, supervision and fuel costs were too much. Biman also made losses because it was making payments for leased planes.”
