The 52-year-old journalist passed away in Dhaka's Square Hospital around 3am Sunday.

He had complained about a sharp pain in his chest after arriving at work on Saturday noon, Bangla Tribune's Head of News Harun Ur Rashid told bdnews24.com.

Faruk was rushed to nearby Square Hospital where doctors, detecting blocks in his heart, recommended an urgent bypass surgery.

But his health deteriorated around 1:30am and the journalist breathed his last around 3:30am, said his colleague Rashid.

Father of two school-going daughters, Faruk has worked at the Dainik Samachar, Dainik Rupali, Dainik Ajker Kagoj and Daily Jugantor.

His wife Sanjida Omar is a homemaker.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held in the Dhaka Reporters Unity office at 1pm. His second janaza will be held in his workplace Bangla Tribune at 2pm.

The third janaza will be held at Mir Hazirbagh Khalpar Jame Masjid after Asr prayers before he is buried at the Jurain graveyard.
