After an untimely downpour, the temperature remained around 36 to 38 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. In Rajshahi, the mercury rose to 38.4 degrees Celsius.
A mild heat wave is sweeping through Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur, Satkhira, Jessore and Kushtia, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
Assistant Meteorologist Md Shahinul Islam said on Thursday: "A mild heat wave is blowing over vast areas including Rajshahi. The situation may continue for two more days as there is no rainfall."
Bangladesh has experienced the highest rainfall in April in 35 years, according to the Met office statistics.
The temperature started to rise from Tuesday. It may begin to fall from Sunday following rains, said the Met office official, adding that Chittagong and Sylhet may have more rainfall.
