Bangladesh life expectancy up: BBS

The average life expectancy of Bangladeshis has increased to 71 years and six months, said Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

The minister highlighted the information, obtained from a 2016 survey report by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, during a press conference after an ECNEC meeting on Tuesday.

According to the BBS, the average life expectancy for Bangladeshis was at 69 years in 2011. The 2015 report, released in June 2016, found that life expectancy had risen to 70 years and nine months.

This year’s report finds the average life expectancy for men in Bangladesh is 70 years and three months, while that of women is 72 years and nine months.

Bangladesh’s average life expectancy had surpassed than the world average, the planning minister said. In 2016 the average global life expectancy was 71 years and four months, five months fewer than Bangladesh's.
