Case filed over CU student found dead inside Shidnagar flat

A case has been filed over the murder of a Chittagong University student whose body was found inside a flat at Shidnagar.

Alauddin had reportedly gone there with three other people to search for a flat to rent on Wednesday. 

Police said, quoting the owner of the building, that four people including a female came to see the flat on Wednesday around 5pm.

At that night, the landlord’s wife discovered Alauddin's body inside a toilet after finding the door to the flat open.

His hands and legs were restrained. He was wearing a blue shirt and black jeans.

His father and brother identified his body at Chittagong Medical College Hospital the next day. Alauddin was a student of Bangla at Chittagong University.

His father Shah Alam did not name an accused in the case he started at Bayezid Bostami Police Station on Thursday night.

Bayezid Bostami Police Station’s OC Md Mohsin said the four came to see the flat on the second floor of the three-storey building.

They liked it and wanted to move there on the same day, he said.

“Three of them including the female went out to bring their belongings while the other stayed back to clean the place.”  

Police were trying to trace the three who had been absconding since the incident, the OC said.
