ACC arrests National University’s acting controller of examinations

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested National University’s Acting Controller of Examinations Md Badruzzaman over a case of embezzlement.

A team led by ACC Deputy Director Md Morshed Alam arrested Badruzzaman on Monday at Dhaka’s Mirpur, said ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.

The case was filed by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haq in 2012, he told bdnews24.com.

Thirteen, including then-National University vice chancellor Prof Kazi Shahidullah have been accused in the case.

The case accuses the suspects of embezzling Tk 463,394 by ‘illegally’ giving 169 workers selection grades ignoring a government order.

ACC Assistant Director Fazlul Bari was put in charge of the investigation by the court.

On Feb 13, National University Proctor AHM Tauhiduzzaman, Assistant Registrar Siddiqur Rahman and Assistant Director Mofazzel Hossain were arrested in connection with the case. They were later released on bail.
