The deceased have been identified as Shamim Mia, 28, his wife 'Shila', 23, and her sister 'Saleha', 12.

The couple's two children were not in the house when it caught fire, Fire Service official Samarendra Nath Biswas said.

The fire originated at the warehouse and spread quickly to the houses at Islambagh's Chairmanghat Saturday afternoon.

The charred bodies were found at the corner of the stair of a house after the firefighters doused the flames and went inside the house.

Fire Service Control Room office Mizanur Rahman said it took one and a half hours for 12 units of fire crews to douse the fire.

"These buildings are made without any plan. These have concrete structures up to the first floor but the second and even third and fourth floors have been raised with wood and corrugated tin. These upper parts of these buildings are burnt down," he said.
